Jermaine Receives Life Changing Transplant

Jermaine Jones had a kidney transplant on Tuesday 15th November thanks to the amazing generosity and kindness of Ben Howley, who donated one of his healthy kidneys through the paired donation scheme. Ben offered to donate one of his kidneys, but wasn’t a match for Jermaine, however, through the paired scheme, Ben was able to give his kidney to someone else who was a match. Jermaine then received another from another donor who was willing to donate one to the receiver of Ben’s kidney.

The scheme means that more people are able to receive a living kidney transplant, speeding up the time it takes receive a life saving kidney transplant.

In September, Jermaine and his brother Guy supported Kidney Research Yorkshire by organising the Kidney Research Yorkshire Awareness and Charity Ball, which saw over 300 people raising over £22,000 towards our vital research into kidney disease.
