Our Research Strategy

Kidney Research Yorkshire has embarked on a new Research Strategy with the aim of establishing tenured researchers at the University of Leeds within seven years.

Initially we plan to support two clinicians to develop their careers as academic clinicians, working both within clinical and research settings, developing a portfolio of kidney research which align with our aims of saving and improving the lives of kidney disease patients and those of the University/Medical School objectives.

By funding these positions to develop research projects, we will enable them to establish themselves within the University Medical School, which will lead to further investment in their research from other external funders.

Initial projects will research the cardiac consequences of chronic kidney disease, potentially leading to large interventional trials, and another to understand how to support transplant decisions in hard to reach BAME groups.

Overall, with your support, Kidney Research Yorkshire aims to raise and invest over £750,000 over the next 5 years to support projects aimed at saving and improving the lives of kidney disease patients in Yorkshire and beyond.
